DNA and RNA Isolation
Nucleic acid extraction
Using standard operation procedures, we prepare DNA and RNA samples from animal tissues and body fluids from human blood and urine, and cell culture. The quality and quantity of extracted nucleic acid products are evaluated with spectrophotometry and gel electrophoresis before downstream applications such as PCR or sequencing. PCR tests of purified DNA or RNA may be used for further quality and quantity assessment.

Figure 1. Genomic DNAs were extracted from the mouse brain, heart, kidney, liver, lung, and blood using the QIAamp DNA mini kit. Using the ZR Quick-DNA Urine Kit, 50 ng of DNA was isolated from 300 µl of mouse urine.
Portions of the extracted DNA were then used to amplify the mouse β-actin (Actb) gene. After PCR, the amplification products were run on 1.8% agarose gel.
